Research Degree Objectives
The Master of Computer Science by Research (MQA/FA7164) and Master of Information Technology by Research (MQA/FA7087) at UMS FCI provide an intensive research environment for candidates aiming to pursue advanced technical investigations, methodology development, and specialized industry solutions.
Through close academic mentoring by graduate faculty, candidates conduct in-depth dissertation research, produce peer-reviewed academic publications, and prepare for high-level technical leadership or doctoral studies.

Admission Requirements
A Bachelor's degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 as accepted by the Senate.
A Bachelor's degree in Computing or related fields with CGPA 2.00 – 2.99 accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment by the faculty.
Non-computing Bachelor's degree with CGPA ≥ 2.50 accepted subject to prerequisite courses or faculty evaluation of relevant work experience.
Must achieve minimum MUET Band 4 or equivalent CEFR Low B2 (IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46, PTE 51) or fulfill general university language requirements.

Graduate On Time (GOT) Roadmap
Attend Research Methodology course, write research proposal, learn Mendeley & LaTeX, pass Proposal Defence.
Write Dissertation Chapters 1 (Introduction), 2 (Literature Review), 3 (Methodology), attend Research Literacy Course, submit survey paper to Scopus/WoS journal.
Conduct experiments or fieldwork, write Chapter 4 (Results & Findings), present research at academic conference (Scopus proceedings).
Write Chapter 5 (Conclusion), submit full dissertation, undergo Pre-Viva and final Oral Defence (Viva Voce).
